The first chapter of the Ramayana adaptation is directed by Nitesh Tiwari (Chillar Party). The screenplay was co-written by Shridhar Raghavan. This project is produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash. Based on the Valmiki’s epic, the film focuses on the challenges and the life of the Indian mythological hero Prince Rama. Ramayana is going to be divided into two parts. This star-studded Indian mythological film includes actors Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and many more. In 2017, it was revealed that Valmiki’s Ramayana would be brought to life on the screen. Initially, it was expected to be a trilogy by producers, however, the project went through several changes. After a few years in development and further changes to the scripts, the film series, as envisioned, became a two-part series.

With A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer working together for the score, this film was the first Indian film collaboration for Zimmer. In April 2024, production for the first of two films began at Film City, Mumbai and went on until July 2025. It is expected that the films will cost about Rs. 4,000 crores ($420 million). This will make it the most expensive film ever to be made in India.
